Kishtut – Zavron Coal Mine
"Kishtut - Zavron" Coal mine is located in Panchakent city of Sughd region, on the northern slopes of the Zarafshan mountain range, at an absolute height of 1500-2400m, at a distance of 50 km in the south-eastern direction of Panchakent city. The field of the mine covers 20 km2 and stretches 10 km in the east-west direction. As a result of carrying out detailed geological development works in 1956-1959, the existence of coal reserves of the "Kishtut-Zavron" mine by the KDZ of the former USSR with Protocol No. 3308 dated 09.03.1961 according to categories B+ C1+C2 in the amount of 92.5 million tons have been confirmed as unbalanced reserves.
According to the protocol No. 416/kdz of the State Commission of Mineral Resources from 02.10.2020, 900 thousand tons of the non-balance reserves of the "Kishtut" region, which amounted to 64653.0 thousand tons, were weighed into reserves, of which 400 thousand tons are currently available in an open manner.

Fon – Yaghnob Coal Mine
Fon-Yaghnob coal mine in Aini district of Sughd region, is located in 130 km north-west of Dushanbe . The coal mine stretches for 24 km along the Yaghnob and Fon-Daryo rivers and occupies the slopes of the Zarafshan and Hisar mountain ranges at an altitude of 1600-3600 m above sea level. More than 50 layers and sub layers of coal have been discovered in the thickness of the Jurassic coal layers, 16 of which have working capacity. The coal mine is very interesting: high-quality coking coal of the type G (gas) - gas and GZ (gas-oil) - gas-oil. Prospective reserves are more than 0.9 bln. tons and weighing almost 400 mln. tons Fon-Yaghnob coking coal mine is considered the leader of the coal industry of the republic. Since 1983, the coal mine has been worked by the mine of the same name.
Out of 18 layers of coal work, 5 layers have high coking properties, which requires melting with a hot mixture. Coal reserves of other layers are good energy sources. The capacity of layers is from 1.0 to 14.5 meters.
